GROUND GLASS AWARD
Each year, Prismatic Ground recognizes one living artist with the Ground Glass Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Field of Experimental Film/Media.
2025 RECIPIENT
Ashish Avikunthak
This year's recipient of the Ground Glass Award is Indian filmmaker Ashish Avikunthak (b. 1972, Jabalpur), whose irreverent approach to mythology, lore and religious philosophy holds a singular place in cinema—in the lineage of "Parallel" filmmakers like Mani Kaul and Kumar Shahani, and at times categorized as part of the "Cinema of Prayoga," but wholly its own esoteric, mystical and iconoclastically devotional practice. Antoinetta Angelidi
The 2024 Ground Glass Award for outstanding experimental media goes to Greek filmmaker Antoinetta Angelidi (73) for her wildly imaginative contribution to the aesthetics of feminist filmmaking, and for her dedication to cinema as a mode of investigation. Read more

The 2022 Ground Glass Award recognizes filmmaker Christopher Harris's uniquely beautiful, provocative, and peerless body of work to date— a collection of films which resist the violence of the world by resisting the violence of narrative itself, and which propel the avant-garde tradition in a politically and aesthetically radical forward direction.
